Re: The Official Site & this place « Result #1 on Jun 22, 2009, 11:08am »
Dear Friends,
I am sure you must’ve realised by now that this forum has but a small population of posters compared to the Unity Forum at the Official Enya Website. Enya, being a renowned musician will naturally attract a great number of visitors to the official site, be they lurkers, browsers or people seeking like-minded people in a community setting. Enya Shores was meant nothing more than a refuge, as back up gathering place should something unusual occur at the official website. However with a database of visitors and contact information, I won’t be surprised if the Webmaster is able to e-mail everyone in the database should Unity’s Forum servers encounter a sudden and prolonged power outage. Getting us all back on won’t be as tedious as it was about 8 years back. Also Unity, the official Enya Forum has evolved immensely from the days when it was managed by Creative Digital, from Mark Birch to Peter Pehrsson/John Eckroth , later to John Eckroth and then turned over to Lee Tobin. It’s been a long and steep learning curve for everyone, Aigle included when it comes to managing an online fan community which can be rather outspoken at certain quarters. Yet we must never forget and this I have stressed since the early days. We as fans are merely guests allowed to visit Enya’s online property. It is our duty to behave. The Unity Forum has evolved from an unregulated forum to a regulated environment, continually monitored by those who have sworn to uphold its hospitality and honour. Generations of Moderators have served from the humble first batch of 4 concerned online citizens to a number exceeding 20 and counting by now. With direct interest from the Enya Triumvirate, channeling direction and freedom of administration to a trusted Webmaster and Moderation Team, it is now well taken care of. Evolving from a loosely linked volunteer corp to a tightly oiled volunteer outfit. We over here can only watch with pride that something so by the seat of the pants has evolved into something better than we had ever dared to imagine. At least we started an awareness of the need for a proper forum. For the record, I think it is time that we here too evolve to interact whenever we can with the main community at enya.com. Things have changed and the community has grown. That is no excuse for us not to join in the action. I admit Unity is large these days and no one person can truly moderate it without cross geographical assistance. My main business when I have the time shall be at Unity. After all it is the Official website. That ends all arguments on the contrary. One day, The Shores will have to surrender to the ocean of Unity that links all smaller and scattered Enya related online communities.

Thankfully this wasn't one of Roma's riddles.
"To leave the thread of all time And let it make a dark line In hopes that I can still find The way back to the moment." - Roma Ryan
Okay, to find the way back to the moment, assuming it's north, but if it's not north at least it's good to know where north is. All she has to do is hold the giant clock like a compass (get the other Enya's to help) and point the hour hand towards the sun, assuming it isn't pouring down rain and she knows where the sun is. Divide that time in half from 12:00 noon and "let it make a dark line" across the watch, the line that's farthest from the sun is cardinal north. If there's daylight savings time then adjust to standard time.
Then for the southern hemisphere point 12:00 towards the sun, "and let it make a dark line", from the center of the watch to halfway between the hour hand and 12:00. The line closest to the sun will be north. If there's daylight savings time then adjust to standard time.
It is harder using this method the closer to the equator you are.
the moon shines to the west if it rises before the sun sets, if the moon rises after midnight the bright side points east.
I'm always making moons that are all wrong in my art .. oh well.

Here we are again after all this while. It's been quiet certainly but our appreciation for Enya has grown fonder. I hope she puts out more music in the coming years and I put out more material too. With the new music stars we see daily, somehow I just consider that a musician working on their work and landing a record deal the old fashioned way is still better than the glut of talent shows on tv. Those voted in or out survive on the whims of a fickle public. I am just happy that Enya never had to endure such things. We are truly fortunate to have Enya start as a soundtrack composer then evolving into a music artiste at her own pace. Her style just isn't suited for a flash and dash tv show with a couple of minutes for fame and fortune.

Yuppers *hug* .. it's good to see everyone.
Happy New Year too. I hope we are all together this time next year.
For Dom, thank you for your texts.. the fish are definitely counting their blessings. When they get to the number 3 though, they just start over again and think up new ones. Fish have poor memory skills (I suspect it's probably thyroid related.) But they are happy. Which probably was a good thing for Thoreau.

Dear Cheeky Celtic Lady, Hatchet Lady & Sharp Suited Man,
I hope you manage catch us all on our best behaviour at the Official Enya.com Christmas & New Year greeting post. Then again....we behave at our best most of the time, don't we?
In the meantime, the humble cd folder is gradually expanding with Enya cd after cd.
A long way from winter.. « Result #7 on Oct 31, 2008, 8:27am »
It's hard to believe some parts of the USA are under snow. It's summer weather here. I had visitors today who were so kind to pose. Butterflies are really not the most patient creatures, it's hard to capture a picture of them with their wings open, and they are sensitive to shadows.

Eithne wasn't kidding when she said she enjoyed the percussion arrangement. It's back to big big sounding releases.
Normally it is the big sounding, big production & hooky tracks that become hits. Orinoco Flow if it had been a slow number would not have made the impression it did. I hope Eithne keeps the catchy, big sounding tracks as released singles. That's the method in my opinion, which will push aside the competition that's still mired in contemporary R & B, which is all rhythm these days & no blues.
I like the balance of sadness & gloom against hope, promise & expectation.

That's awesome news Michael! Wow! Congratulations!! You worked very, very hard to get this far. You'll be even busier, but I hope you can pop in now and then.
According to Wikipedia, November 1st is the first day of winter in Ireland, and November 1 is called November Day (Lá Samhna) in Celtic tradition and is thus named in the Irish Calendar, where the month is called Mí na Samhna.
I hope November brings more needed good change for everyone, we have an election next week.
Hi Rain and Dom, I agree, this place was always a back-up, but it is always good to pop by and keep up with local gossip with a few select old friends.
I hope all are well and enjoying natural, non human affected Global Cooling as much as I am.
Michael
.. natural cooling? It isn't very cold here. The latest official news is summer doesn't breath it's last in the desert until October, but we knew that. I bet at one time it was a marsh here.
hmm.. I have no interesting gossip. Oh!!! wait! yes I do! .. nah.. nevermind. That's not interesting.
