The Official Site & this place
« Thread Started on Oct 20, 2008, 3:07am »

The Official Enya Website has grown in terms of activities & interaction with the fanbase. It used to be that the Official Forum natives would get excited just at the prospect of the Webmaster posting a message. It's a lot more than that these days. Enya has been working in tandem with its Webmaster & Moderation Team in order to ensure a regular stream of news & updates. I think Team Enya has done very well from a site with minimal interaction, it has embraced its fanbase community via its news & updates.
In time I can see that this Forum shall be more as a sub forum, a place to regroup & organise should there be server problems at the Official Forum. This I believe was the original intention of this site. Other than that I'd think that the nucleus of Enya activities shall be www.enya.com.

8-) This place will always be "The Shores" .. a nice place to sit by the fire, watch the stars and listen to the waves. Where else can you go to get a free plasma TV and a lobster dinner? :P .. *sigh* Those were the days before ad blocker.

The updates and news at enya.com are great! I'm glad the trio have a break to stop in and say hello. The games were a lot of fun.

Hi Rain and Dom,
I agree, this place was always a back-up, but it is always good to pop by and keep up with local gossip with a few select old friends.

I hope all are well and enjoying natural, non human affected Global Cooling as much as I am.

:P .. natural cooling? It isn't very cold here. The latest official news is summer doesn't breath it's last in the desert until October, but we knew that. I bet at one time it was a marsh here.

hmm.. I have no interesting gossip. Oh!!! wait! yes I do! .. nah.. nevermind. That's not interesting. ;D

Dear Friends,

I am sure you must’ve realised by now that this forum has but a small population of posters compared to the Unity Forum at the Official Enya Website. Enya, being a renowned musician will naturally attract a great number of visitors to the official site, be they lurkers, browsers or people seeking like-minded people in a community setting.
Enya Shores was meant nothing more than a refuge, as back up gathering place should something unusual occur at the official website. However with a database of visitors and contact information, I won’t be surprised if the Webmaster is able to e-mail everyone in the database should Unity’s Forum servers encounter a sudden and prolonged power outage.
Getting us all back on won’t be as tedious as it was about 8 years back.
Also Unity, the official Enya Forum has evolved immensely from the days when it was managed by Creative Digital, from Mark Birch to Peter Pehrsson/John Eckroth , later to John Eckroth and then turned over to Lee Tobin.
It’s been a long and steep learning curve for everyone, Aigle included when it comes to managing an online fan community which can be rather outspoken at certain quarters. Yet we must never forget and this I have stressed since the early days. We as fans are merely guests allowed to visit Enya’s online property. It is our duty to behave.
The Unity Forum has evolved from an unregulated forum to a regulated environment, continually monitored by those who have sworn to uphold its hospitality and honour.
Generations of Moderators have served from the humble first batch of 4 concerned online citizens to a number exceeding 20 and counting by now. With direct interest from the Enya Triumvirate, channeling direction and freedom of administration to a trusted Webmaster and Moderation Team, it is now well taken care of. Evolving from a loosely linked volunteer corp to a tightly oiled volunteer outfit.
We over here can only watch with pride that something so by the seat of the pants has evolved into something better than we had ever dared to imagine. At least we started an awareness of the need for a proper forum.
For the record, I think it is time that we here too evolve to interact whenever we can with the main community at enya.com. Things have changed and the community has grown. That is no excuse for us not to join in the action. I admit Unity is large these days and no one person can truly moderate it without cross geographical assistance. My main business when I have the time shall be at Unity. After all it is the Official website. That ends all arguments on the contrary.
One day, The Shores will have to surrender to the ocean of Unity that links all smaller and scattered Enya related online communities.
